Race between chemist and machine - Comparison of workflows

We directly compared a saturated N-Heterocycle forming reaction (SnAP) carried out manually by a chemist with one just ran by the machine. Whereas the chemist is nearly working on the two half days, the Synple 2 machine requires only 5 minutes setup time and then runs completely by itself. It finished early in the morning after roughly 11 hours even before the chemist starts its work day. The chemist on the other hand is starting his work-day with the workup and purification of the reaction including several meeting breaks and lunch in between.
